What wedding flowers do I need?
So you are planning for your big day! You have the date set and now you’re thinking about all the different aspects of the day that will make sure it is extra special, sure it will be the most amazing day anyway but its nice to have all the extra touches.
One of the first questions we get asked is “What wedding flowers do I need”? This questions covers a very wide range of questions all dependent on you as individuals, as a couple, and on how much you love flowers!
What couples want for their day varies greatly, for some it’s a simple bouquet for the bride, some buttonholes, perhaps a corsage and maybe a table arrangement for the top table. For others it can be very extravagant with flower arches, flowers on every table, floral gifts, crowns, petals…. The list can go on and on.
For this reason its important to consider the budget for your wedding floristry. This can range between 10% and 20% or more dependent on how much you love flowers. If flowers are to be a focal point then you may spend a little more.

A great way to do this is to have flowers that can be move from one venue or location to another, maximising the use of each arrangement.
When booking your consultation with your florist, have your theme in mind and take along props or a Pinterest board to help bring your idea to life for you florist. If you have a must have colour, bring along a piece of fabric in the colour or a Pantone colour card. You can book a consultation with us by calling us or visiting our wedding page.
Wedding flower arrangements.
Brides bouquet
The most important arrangement of the day will always be the Brides bouquet. This is where you should be most decadent. The bride will be the centre of attention, they will have all eyes on them, be in almost every photo, and the bouquet will be right there with them! This is the arrangement that will be hanging on your walls for years to come, so make it spectacular.
For similar reasons to the above, if the Groom is having a buttonhole, its always good to make it special.
Brides floral crown
For the same reasons as the bouquet, if you are having a floral crown or headpiece, it is worth getting this right. Again it will feature in all the photos. Make sure your hair stylist also knows if you are having a flower crown!

Final thoughts
Picking flowers for your big day can be both exciting and daunting. A good florist will be able to guide you through the process and put your mind at ease. Cost can vary significantly dependant on the size of the wedding, the arrangements and the quality of flower used, but again ask your florist for advice in this. Also bear in mind that many florists may have a minimum spend for a Saturday wedding, partcularly in peak season.
If you do wish to book a consultation please get in touch and we will be happy to guide you through the process.
